Mr Conlan’s 5th Class had a great time measuring the height of the new Ball Wall for Maths Week. Don’t worry, we weren’t climbing ladders or renting cherrypickers!!!
We used an instrument called a clinometer and our knowledge of triangles to calculate the height. Click through the photos to see how we made our clinometers and then put them to use!
Some groups accurately recorded the exact height of the wall and most other groups were within half a metre of the correct height!
Please see here for more information and instructions for how to make your own clinometer.
