St. Paul’s Primary School Presents Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast Jr.”

St. Paul’s Primary School in Navan is excited to present some photos from its highly praised 2024 musical production of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast Jr.” This marked a significant milestone for St. Paul’s as it proudly presented its first musical in seven years.

Building on a rich tradition of captivating performances, St. Paul’s Primary School had previously enchanted audiences with acclaimed productions such as Disney’s “The Lion King Jr.” in 2017, “Alice in Wonderland” in 2013, “Seussical Jr” in 2009, “Honk Jr” in 2005, and “Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat” in 2001.

The journey to bring “Beauty and the Beast Jr.” to life began in October 2023, as casting commenced and rehearsals kicked off just before Halloween. Transforming the school hall into a dazzling theatre with tiered seating for approximately 340 attendees and a purpose-built stage, St. Paul’s provided an enchanting experience for all.

Over four magical nights, a total of 380 children graced the stage, showcasing their talent and dedication. The production featured a main cast of 81 performers, with students from 3rd to 6th class participating in the choir, ensuring a collaborative and inclusive experience for all involved.

“Beauty and the Beast Jr.” opened on Tuesday, February 27th, at 7:00 PM, and ran until Friday, March 1st. Additionally, a special matinee performance was held on Thursday, February 29th, at 11:00 AM, welcoming family members of the cast and children from neighbouring schools. With overwhelming enthusiasm from the school community, all four evening shows sold out quickly.

Under the stellar leadership of producer and director Sarah McLoughlin, alongside choreographer Abi Greene, and choir directors Lorna Greally and Juliet Kerins, the production dazzled and delighted audiences of all ages.

Highlighting the talent of the school, Katelyn Campbell from 4th Class took on the iconic role of Belle, while Avril McKeever from 3rd Class portrayed the Beast, bringing these beloved characters to life with passion and authenticity.  All your favourite characters were superbly played by: Eanna Gibbons (Gaston), Osgur Mohan (LeFou), Venice Lamamigo (Lumiere), Katie O’Kane (Babette), Beth Murphy (Mrs. Potts), Armpana Chotza (Chip), Doireann Gibbons (Cogsworth), Ava Marshall (Madame De La Grande Bouche), Aidan Tolster (The Prince), Daire Carolan (Maurice) and many more!

We are delighted to be able to share some photos taken on the show nights from backstage and also from out front during the costume and tech rehearsals.  We hope to have some more photos to share with you taken by a guest with a professional camera very soon!  Please do not share any photos on social media.  These are provided for personal use only to allow parents and pupils to commemorate the show.
