April 2nd is the date for ‘Climb with Charlie’, and March was the month for the 100km Walk for Wishes for Ireland’s Make-a-Wish Appeal.  So many people in Ireland are suffering from long term illnesses.  Closest to our hearts in St. Paul’s is our own Zak Moran.  Zak is a 5th class pupil who has been fighting a long and arduous battle this past year. This Friday, April 1st, we decided to walk in solidarity.

We spoke to the children about the fundraisers, and watched the News2Day clips that explained them very well.  Each pupil in each class cut out a star and decorated with messages of support for Zak.  Some classes also cut out flowers and footprints.  We lit candles – candles of hope, of prayers, of support and solidarity.

Our school community then walked to the local park, completing the loop before returning to school.  This weekend as many complete the climb with Charlie, we want to send the message that our school community support you.  To all those with long term illnesses, most especially Zak, we are keeping you in our thoughts, our hopes and our prayers.
